Boats and Fishing Equipment

For multi-specie island fishing we utilize 18ft boats with 50hp tiller outboard motors.  These skiffs are fully equipped with swivel seats, GPS system (with Lake of the Woods chip), fish locator, life jackets, landing net, and electric bow-mount trolling motor.

Next…  We call it “map-talk”…  And this is something we share with all of our guests beginning on your night of arrival.  Sit down with your marker as we discuss the latest and greatest fishing options for where to, how to, and when to catch your favorite species of fish.  For each group we include a navigational lake-map for local travel that includes highlights for current fishing hotspots.

Our boats and motors also include the use of rods, reels, and tackle.  Or, if you prefer, feel free to bring your personal gear.

The typical fishing equipment list for you includes a 6’6” medium-action spinning rod for walleye and bass.  And then for the toothy critters our gear weights up a bit more with 6’ heavy-action spinning rods for the pike and musky.  All rods are equipped with spinning reels appropriately spooled with braided specialty line.

Each boat will also be supplied with a tackle box consisting of the basics.  We use 1/4 and 3/8 ounce jigs for walleyes.  The provided bait is frozen emerald lake shiners.  For the bass and pike we include in-line spinners, plastic tubes, spinner-baits, and assorted crank-baits.  And with the musky we stick to traditional Mepps Musky spinners in various colors.  We also include steel and mono leaders, fishing pliers, line clippers, filet knife, and fishing towel.

We do not sell fishing equipment at the camp.  If you do not see something listed that is generally in your arsenal, please plan accordingly to have it in your possession on arrival.
